Tender for the Flower Island and Valdanos

Privatization Council of Montenegro invited international investors today to apply for the long-term lease of a former military resort The Flower Island near Montenegrin town of Tivat, and Valdanos facility. The Government expects from the lessee to build unique and multifunctional high-class tourist facilities with an array of leisure activities. The construction of tourist facilities should not jeopardize environment.
The Flower Island has a large potential for high-class tourism development. The largest mega-yacht marina, Four Seasons Hotel and a golf course are being built near the island.
In the vicinity of Valdanos there is the largest Mediterranean olive – grove which covers 400,000 square meters and has 18,000 olive trees. The olive-grove will not be leased.
The offers need to contain detailed conceptual, project, investment and operative plans which will be evaluated by Tender Commission.
Each bidder needs to submit financial suggestion which should include suggested lease duration, the amount of rental charges, structure, conditions and deadlines.
Minimum guaranteed lease will be proscribed, but lessee is to pay annual rental charges based on the number of tourists. The lessee needs to submit the investment plan which needs to be completed within three years after signing the lease contract. The amount of the planned investment will be the main criteria of evaluation.
The public international tender for the two locations will be opened in the second half of May.
